Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)

Under our sustainability strategy, developed within the umbrella label Twise, Tapibel continuously works to understand and minimise the environmental impact of our carpet solutions. We are proud to announce that our tile collections have achieved excellent results in their latest Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification.

What Is an EPD?

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a transparent, third-party verified document outlining the environmental impact of a product throughout its entire life cycle. Based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), an EPD answers one central question: ‘How does a product perform during each phase of its life cycle, from raw material extraction to end-of-life?’

EPDs follow a strict, standardised format per product category, making it easy to compare different flooring solutions. The standards for obtaining an EPD are rigorous and internationally recognised. Tapibel proudly holds a strong EPD certificate for various tile collections.

The added value of a strong EPD certificate

Achieving excellent EPD results confirms Tapibel’s dedication to sustainability and strengthens the trust we build with our customers and partners. The EPD provides clear, quantifiable insights into the durability and environmental performance of our collections.

The assessment included analyses of four life cycle phases:

1. Production phase

The yarn was evaluated in detail.

2. Construction phase

The production of the tiles themselves was assessed. Tapibel’s sustainable technologies played a key role:

Ecofuse: a latex-free PVB-based coating.

Greenbase: a bitumen backing containing 70% recycled material.

3. User phase

This phase included the environmental impact of transport to the customer, installation, use, and maintenance of the carpet tiles.

4. Reworking phase

Different end-of-life processing scenarios were examined to determine their ecological footprint.

The conclusion?

Our tile collections score well within the proposed environmental standards. Resulting in an EPD Tapibel is truly proud of.

Multiple EPD-certified collections

We reinforce our sustainability mission with two Environmental Product Declarations. Each demonstrating that performance, design, and environmental awareness can go hand in hand.

1. EPD for ECONYL® tile collections

Made from 100% regenerated nylon.
Contributes to a circular future with significantly lower waste.
Achieves up to 74% lower CO₂ emissions compared to conventional PA6 nylon.

2. EPD for all Tapibel tile collections

This second EPD covers all Tapibel tile collections, affirming our commitment to transparency and environmental responsibility across our entire product range.
