Partnership in the spotlight: Fibertrone

At Tapibel, strong partnerships are at the heart of everything we do, and our long-term partnership with Swedish company Fibertrone is the perfect example. As an established player in the Scandinavian flooring market, Fibertrone offers attractive, sustainable, and affordable textile flooring solutions that perfectly fit the Scandinavian lifestyle. In doing so, they always manage to beautifully combine functionality, design, and value.

Fibertrone literally carries fibre in its name. It is an amalgamation of ‘fibre’ and ‘trone’, a reference to an earlier carpet printing technique called Millitron. Although technology has evolved over the years, Fibertrone remains true to its innovative nature and to providing quality flooring.

The company has a strong presence in Sweden, Norway, and Finland, working with wholesalers, DIY shops, e-commerce platforms, supermarkets, and event organisers. In addition, Fibertrone also supports customised projects in collaboration with architects and interior designers.

Warm, inviting shades such as beige and soft grey are very popular in Scandinavia at the moment. Consumers are looking for floor coverings that feel modern and fresh, with glossy yarn and easy installation.

“Above all, consumers want value for money and a trendy colour palette,” says Maria. “Project clients often revolve around specific design requirements. Then sustainability, certification, guarantees, and aesthetics are all important.”

Carpet tiles  continue to gain importance in this regard. Their modularity and visual flexibility make them particularly suitable for commercial interiors and public spaces.”

What once started as a trend is now an absolute must. The climate goals are ambitious, posing major challenges for the textile sector.

“Our industry needs to invest in cleaner technologies without making the price unaffordable or losing logistical flexibility. That is a difficult balancing act, but we are determined to find the right balance.”

Trust and continuity have been the basis of the partnership between Fibertrone and Tapibel for over 30 years. Started under founder Lars Nellbrandt, the partnership continues to evolve in line with the market.

“When I started at Fibertrone 28 years ago, the partnership with Tapibel had been established for several years already,” recalls Maria. “What makes Tapibel so valuable to us is its flexibility. Unlike some large European manufacturers, Tapibel is agile and actively brainstorms together with its partners.”

Fibertrone offers the full Tapibel range depending on customer demand. Carpet tiles are particularly popular right now, especially the bouclé varieties such as Coral (Lines)  and Cobalt SDN . They are also gradually introducing the new Tapibel rugs into selected projects.
